Playing Catch Up

So, you may or may not have noticed I’ve been a bit absent from the blog lately.  Not that I don’t want to write long, well thought-out posts…there just hasn’t simply been time to do so.  You all can easily relate.

busy day

Obviously my days have been busier than that. Regardless, I hate that I’ve been so absent lately and feel we’re in need of a bit of catching up.  Here are a few things that have been on my mind as of late…

1.  I’d rather doctors not narrate during a procedure.

“This may hurt”, “This will hurt”, “That’s strange…”.

Being told something is about to hurt only makes it 10x worse.  I’d really rather not know.

2.  Speaking of doctors, I’ve tossed the idea of becoming one to the side.  It’s not what I truly want.

3.  Yesterday’s yoga session taught me one thing: I need to do more yoga.  Teaching a couple times a week is not enough- my flexibility is SHOT!

4.  Genetics lab started today.  So far, so good.

5.  I’ve been considering getting certified as a personal trainer.  It’s been on my mind for some time now and I’m ready to take the leap.

6.  My very first personal Groupon buy: Shaun T’s Rockin’ Body Dance DVDs.

Rockin' Body DVDs, Shaun T*fingers crossed it’s actually rockin!*

7.  I’m almost through New Rules of Lifting Stage 2 and am still loving it.

…and still need to write a review of Stage 1.

8. I’m still eating although no food has been on this blog for quite some time. (Don’t worry, you’re not missing anything spectacular.)

9.  I miss my camera!!  It’s still off being cleaned and using a point and shoot isn’t cutting it.  Part of the reason there hasn’t been a ton of food photographed lately as well.

10.  When did people start not using the Oxford comma?Oxford comma

Apparently, it’s a regional thing whether we learned to use it or not which is fine and dandy, but it’s still strange to see it not being used.

Hopefully things will slow down a bit tomorrow. Not sure about you, but I’ve been ready for the weekend since Tuesday! Winking smile

Talk to you soon!

**Tell me something new with you!! Anything. I feel so out of the loop!

**If you’re a personal trainer, why did you choose the certification you did? (ACE, NASM, ACSM, AFAA…?)

I love the idea of becoming a personl trainer and have actually waffled with the idea myself. I wouldn’t get the certification so much to train others, but to have the knowledge. Everything fitness and nutrition interests me :-)

Exactly! It would be nice to really know the stuff yourself rather than just be told it from other people. No doubt learning the material to become certified would teach you SO much!

Oh my goodness, I hate when doctors say “Well that’s unusual…” ha! That’s how I found out about my heart condition.

Becoming a personal trainer is a great idea! One of my girlfriends that I work with is actually working on getting certified!

Good Luck!
I’ve taken a few classes over the years, but not so I could become someone who could train others, I just use the knowledge that I gained and use it on myself.

It would really be nice to learn in detail proper form, what to eat, and all that rather than just reading it from so many different sources!

My coworker just sent me that Oxford Comma graphic yesterday. I edit technical writing as part of my job, so this sort of stuff makes me smile!

There are so many options out there to get certified- it’s confusing just comparing all of them!

Ive been thinking of getting certified as well. Now that I am a health coach, I think it would be a perfect packaged deal to offer both training AND health coaching. I mean you cant out train a crappy diet!

I was taught to use the Oxford comma, but from what I understand, as of late, is that it’s totally out to do so…le sad!

It’s weird! I haven’t been able to find a reason why they’re beginning to not use it. It doesn’t make sense to stop using it if we were taught to do so!
