Hey, friends!
Hope you’re all enjoying your Easter weekend! I’m sure many of you are with family and what not, so enjoy your time!
My day started off like any other Saturday: late and lazily. I stayed tucked under my covers while the sun gleamed through my window and the birds sang their little hearts out. But soon enough my stomach was telling me it was time to get up…and I had to listen!
Breakfast
I’ve been loving my cereal messes but have seriously been missing my oats. I woke up craving them even more but in a creamy, cool fashion rather than hot and steamy. It just so happens Caitlyn has an awesome recipe for something she calls the Banogurt Mash (love the name! ..banogurt
) that I’ve been wanting to try for sometime now. So I did!
I strayed just a tad from her recipe due to lack of some of the ingredients but still kept it very similar. Into the bowl went:
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
- 1/4 cup Vanilla Chai Carbmaster yogurt
- 1/2 banana, diced and whipped in
- ~1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup oatmeal & wheat bran
- cinnamon & maple syrup
- crushed pretzels and tropical trail mix sprinkled on top
So creamy and delicious!! I’ve forgotten how yummy oats are, especially when mixed in with a little yogurt, and the whipped banana was a really nice touch. Yum!
I sat around watching a home renovating show called Moving Up while letting breakfast settle. I’m not sure if it’s because nothing else was on, I was too lazy to change the channel, or that fact I really, really want to do some things around the house…but it was really interesting! These couples completely renovate their entire house for practically nothing and then the previous owners come in and give their opinion after the work’s done (and usually not liking it…). Just goes to show how different people’s styles are.
After gaining some styling ideas, it was time for the gym.
Workout
I half debated trying to run outside today but decided to give my hip a few more days before risking getting stuck miles from my house with hip pain. So the gym it was! Good thing, too because my hip wasn’t 100% when trying to jog. I kept most of my cardio to the elliptical and bike while doing ab & leg work in between. Despite not really being able to run, it was an awesome workout and really intense!! I think I have a new love affair with lunges and squats. ![]()
Lunch
The workout had me hot and hungry by the time I got home so I knew exactly what to go for…the first smoothie of the season!
I quickly showered and whipped one up in a matter of minutes.
All blended together:
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 scoop Advanced Whey Chocolate PB protein powder
- frozen pineapple chunks
- ~1/2 tsp Xanthan gum
- ice
This was so thick (almost Wendy’s Frosty thick!) and super tasty. A few sips into it, I decided to slip on my suit and get a nice dose of vitamin D.
Warmth, sun, and a chocolate shake.
Yep, life’s good.
Enjoy your day!
