Yo gurl, wut’s ur sign?

I don’t follow horoscopes religiously or anything, but they can be pretty interesting.  So granted, I was slightly upset when rumors were spreading that the zodiac signs had suddenly changed due to an additional constellation.  I had been a Taurus my whole life, there’s no way I was going to change!  After all, Tauruses are notoriously stubborn. Wink

Luckily, the rumors were disproved just as quickly as they started.  Turns out Western astrology (the typical horoscopes) is based on the seasons, not the constellations like Eastern astrology..so we all remained the same sign.  Woohoo!  Yes

This isn’t all just random babbling, I promise.  It happens to be today’s topic in the 30 Day Challenge.  This was another really fun one that taught me even more about my beloved sign..and about myself as well.  So without further ado:

Day 7- Your zodiac sign and how it fits your personality.

There’s a ton of information out there about zodiacs, but this site had a lot of interesting ones.  I trimmed the lists down a bit, but  these are the main Taurean qualities:

Personality
Strong and dependable leaders.
They’re loyal and always willing to lend a hand.
Taurus is stubborn and diligent.
They’re intelligence and have good sense of humor, making this sign great company.
Stable and conservative, Taureans are among the most reliable of the zodiac and are often sought for practical advice.
They’re highly creative and thoroughly enjoy making things with their own hands.
Friends and Family
Taurus is loyal to family and cherishes time with them.
Once a friend is made and trusted, this relationship will last for a lifetime.
Promises and oaths to others are taken seriously.
Taureans adore children.
They love to entertain in their own homes and don’t think twice about having a house full of friends and relatives to celebrate life’s events.

Career and Money
Stability is the keyword for this sign.
On the job, the Taurus is dependable, patient, and diligent.  They ensure the job is done up to standard.
Taureans are excellent managers of money.  They will plan for an item they desire and save until they have the additional resources to attain what they want.

Love
Be prepared to take your time when it comes to the Taurus.  Being rushed in any way, shape, or form is not going to turn this sign on.  (SO true!!)
Exceptionally sensual, touch is most important.
Expect affections to be shown through material items – the Taurus is a great gift-giver.  (I’m a horrible gift-giver.)

Strengths:
Dependable, patient, musical, practical.
Weaknesses:
Stubborn, uncompromising, possessive.
Charismatic marks:
Solid, big bones, tendency to gain weight.  (Uggghh)
Likes:
Gardening, cooking, working with hands, music, romance. (Definitely not a gardener!!)
Dislikes:
Sudden changes, complications, insecurity of any kind, synthetic fabrics.  (Synthetic fabrics are cheaper, so they’re good with me)
Ruling Planet
The ruling planet for Taurus is Venus. This planet’s action is gentle and harmonious. It governs beauty, charm, emotional contacts, possessions, unions of all kinds, singing, art, culture, sweets, and moral character.
Gemstone
Taurus’ star stone is the Emerald.
Compatibility
Taureans are most compatible with Virgo and Capricorn.   (Dated both, didn’t work out.)
Opposite Sign
The opposite sign of Taurus is Scorpio.
Best environment:
A secluded home close to nature. Good food is also important. Beauty and comfort are a must.

Pretty interesting!  Who would have guessed you could gain so much insight from knowing someone’s sign?   Of course these don’t fit everybody, but I’d say it fits pretty dang well for me!

But while the facts are agreeable, there’s one part of horoscopes that I don’t entirely agree with- sign compatibility.  I honestly don’t think zodiacs predestine us to friends or lovers.   But just for fun, here’s a compatibility chart Jess once used:

Awwwe, this makes me and Mike ”awkward”.   Sorry, horoscopes..can’t agree with you there.

So I wonder, would you and I be compatible? Razz

~~~
**Does your zodiac fit you?
**Do you follow horoscopes at all?  I always read mine at the end of the day to see if it came true.  It’s really cool when it actually does!
I’ve never been much into horoscopes or zodiac signs. When I was a kid, someone once saw me reading a horoscope (from the newspaper) and he started yelling about demons and witchcraft and I really believed him. It wasn’t until just recently that I got past that and realized that there’s nothing wrong with it, haha!
Oh my goodness, I don’t blame you for not liking them after that! Geez, that guy needed a chill pill!
I’m a Scorpio (apparently your opposite, lol).
Yep, I’d have to say it fits me pretty well. Not so much when I was younger, but I am more so now, and as I get older I think I will fit it even more so ^.^
I used to be really into horoscopes when I was a tween, but I grew out of it I guess, lol.
Haha enjoyed hearing about your sign!
My last boyfriend was a taurus, and we were NOT compatible at all- but i don’t think it was bc of our signs;)
Ooh, I’m Taurus too! Definitely the best one… :-)
And I agree with that in that I don’t like sudden change. At all!
When I heard about the changes, I just was struck by the thought that what would you do if you’d had your star sign tattooed on – and then it changed??!
I don’t follow my horoscope, but one of my friends is really into it. Apparently I fit some of the characteristics of a Virgo pretty well! Probably the anal-retentiveness… :)
I can’t agree as well, but if you think outside the box… we’re right next to each other :P MWAH! Maybe it was a typo, instead of awkward it should have been awesome :P :D someone should let them know.
I think my horoscope is pretty much right on the money. Aquarius and being a peaceful person :D
Ooh yay! I hadn’t heard the rumors were false and that we are all still our original horoscopes! Thank goodness; I’ve been a cancer all my life and there’s no chance that I’m changing just because of some additional silly constellation! Love that you’re openly stubborn:)
Ya see, … We are awkward because our relationship is so perfect that it comes off awkward to others. :P We have, if you will, a rare case of invincible lovishness. :shock:
I have never followed my horoscope and probably never will. It’s just not thing that interests me.
I don’t think I’ve ever ready my horoscope — BUT I too am a Taurus!
I have to say, its just weird. I mean everyone born in a 1 month period will have the same personality?! Whaaa? Is that what this is about?
Clearly I have never made an effort to understand this.
Yeah, that thought was always a bit off for me, too- there’s just no way! But while reading this, they said “Some Tauruses” a lot..so as to not make it seem like *everyone* would act like that. And obviously some qualities fit some people more than others. :P
“No shame” in having the race bug (on carrots n cake)? BS. Means destroying your knees and joints. Good riddance.
I do follow my sign actually! I use to read it everyday but not so much anymore. I think my sign describes me really well, too! But as for the actual horoscopes, I don’t really beleive in them but it’s like you said, it’s fun to just compare it with how things actually go :)
I am a gemini and i do fit most of the charateristics. I have an assertive, confident, “social director” side and a quieter, more reflective side. I get easily distracted and want to try everything once! art brings the paper home each day and reads me my horoscope but i don’t put too much credit in it.
Sorry Mary but apparently we’re the least compatible (I’m a Gemini). It’s heartbreaking, I know. ;)
I do have to say that I am SO glad we get to keep our signs. I’m just on the brink of being a Gemini and if we had changed, I would have been a Cancer. No offense to Cancers or anything but I’d much rather be a Gemini. :-)
Another Taurus here! Although personally I think they are a load of rubbish! My personalilty is down to my genes, how I was raised etc etc, and is not to do with when I happened to be born. I think if people were shown a set of random characteristics and told it was their star sign they would find enough to agree with, (and generally ignore the ones that dont fit them). Some people find them fun, but I have never read my horoscope in magazines or anything.
:)
Awww I’m a Taurus too! Loved reading all the details about the Taurus sign and going..”yes that me..yep..yep..uhh not really…yep yep..” lol It’s usually more me than it isn’t, so I guess it does fit me well :)
Hope you are well!
