So call me a dork.

But waking up to this made my day:Mirror noteMichael left this note for me on the bathroom mirror last night while I was sleeping so I would get to see it while getting ready for school this morning.

Isn’t he the sweetest? In love

Anyway, as you can tell from the note…school starts today!! Would it be dorky to say I’m actually a bit excited?

Yes, my friends. I love school. There. I said it.

So call me a dork.

The smell of fresh pencils and paper, eager Freshman scurrying around campus trying to make their classes on time…

Football season, campus events…

The classes, the schedule, the books…BooksOk, I could do without the books. But you get the idea.

Getting to see my friends, hiding texts from the teachers, Facebooking during class…

((Ignore those last two, Mom and Dad. I wouldn’t dare. Winking smile))

Joking aside, I really do love school. Because as fun having complete freedom during break is, that freedom doesn’t exactly present any sort of mental challenge.  And I miss that mental challenge!!

Yep, I love to learn. And while you’ll probably hear me complain a few times over the next few months about studying for hours or the “killer tests”…secretly, somewhere deep down hiding, there’s a secret love for it all.

Dork.

But it’s true!

Plus, the start of school gave me a really good excuse to have a mini makeover.

As if I needed school as an excuse. I was in a desperate need of one anyway as you’re about to see. Ready for some embarrassing photos?

Here goes…

Before:Hair beforeBeforeSpeaks for itself, huh? Long, unruly, dead-ends galore…

Obviously, something had to be done. But see, I have the hardest time cutting my hair. At least, the hardest time doing anything besides a quick trim.  Of course, having some pretty hilarious hairstyles in the past (i.e.: an afro perm. Not kidding.) could make any person shy away from the scissors. So trims pretty much guarantee I’m not going to walk out of the salon with green hair or a bald head.

Unless the stylist is just straight horrible.

But aside from being safe, trims are cheap. You all know how much I really dislike spending money when it comes to groceries, furniture, and just about anything else..and well, same goes for hair. It pains me to shell out even $25 for a hair cut that’s only going to last a little while.

Obviously, my fear of walking out with another afro and dislike for spending money has left my hair in serious need of help.

Time to gutsy up and stop being cheap.

After:Hair afterAfterFinally! My hair’s manageable! And soft! And no dead ends! Woohoo!! We added some weaved color a few shades lighter than my natural hair, cut in long layers, and had a deep conditioning session.  <—Which I highly recommend. It works wonders!!

Not a drastic change, but much more than the usual trim and well worth the money. Maybe next time I’ll go even more extreme! Punk

Well, maybe not rockstar extreme..but we’ll see.

But for now, time to grab my crayons and lunch pail. This girl’s going to school!

**Do you tend to stick with the same hairstyle or switch it up?

Adorable note from Michael! I went to school for 7 years (including grad school) – I miss it somedays, other days I’m glad it’s over. Definitely not fun once you have to pay back your loans!

I don’t think I could go straight from undergrad into law school if I didn’t love school! And I always get the same haircut! Haha, I’m too nervous to switch it up!

Awwr that IS the sweetest thing ever. Michael’s a keeper for sure :D And I totally don’t blame you for getting excited about school. I used to really look forward to school starting up again. It was nice to have something to do, and it always felt like a fresh start… plus the new books and planners and clothes were always fun ;) And new makeovers too! You look gorgeous girl :D I tend to keep my hair the same… I used to play around with it a lot but I found a style that suits me so I’ve been sticking to i.

I love learning as well! Glad you got yourself a mental challenge again :)

And your haircut looks great by the way! Subtle but it makes a big difference. I tend to stick the same hairstyle but every few years or so I cut my bangs and then grow them out lol. I usually just get a trim though. I’m an alumni now (so weird to say) but I still love school and the learning environment!

XOXO, hope you have great day :D

That’s such a sweet note. I love the hair. I’m growing mine out after about 4 years of keeping it short.
I don’t like school only because it’s too easy for me. I have only been challenged in about 4 classes, each semester long in the past 3 years, and none of them were AP. My AP class was a breeze. I like it for all of my friends I get to see daily, but until I’m actually challenged and not falling asleep, I don’t like it.

Yeah, the classes that are most boring are those that you don’t even have to think about. It’s a blessing you’re so smart, though!

EEE!!! good luck your first day of school!!! Your new haircut looks great!
I do enjoy my classes and learning but I only like learning about things I’m interested in haha! I forsee another change of my major in the near future

I love school! I don’t care for writing papers, though… ;)
I’d totally rather go to school than work full time. This is, I suppose, the reason I’m planning to pursue my masters degree in photography (so I can teach at university level!), and to be a homeschool mom. :]

I’ve had roughly the same haircut since middle school (long layers). But now I’m growing it out even longer (trying to!). Planning to do some more drastic layering once it grows out. May even get a body wave perm??

I always think I want a new hairstyle and have my stylist chop off my long hair and then end up hating it two days later. Needless to say, I’ve vowed NOT to make that mistake again. Please note though that I have made that vow plenty times before!

I’m a complete dork as well. When I was at school and uni shopping for staionery was the hightlight of my year, especially choosing a new pencil case.
I like your hair :-) I change my style quite regularly. I usually grow it out for a year, get fed up and then cut it into a bob. I’m just on the verge of getting fed up with longer hair.

Cute haircut, very good look for you!
I like buying supplies for a new school year, nothing quite like organizing all of that fun stuff :)

I love deep conditioning but then my hair gets TOO healthy and soft and Ican’t do anything with it. It won’t even stay in ponytails. I will live vicariously through yours :) Your hair looks so much more alive!

That’s true! Super soft hair like that is great..but it does make even the simplest styles nearly impossible.

Your hair is cuuute :D

What I love about school is being productive, I mean the only productive thing i have really done this summer is run. So I’m excited to start getting things done again! Plus, I really do enjoy learning.
The note on your mirror is so sweet. Hope you had an awesome first day!

Your making me miss College!! I can’t belive it’s been 3 years since I graduated. Damn- I feel old now. haha

Your hair looks gorgeous btw! I tend to stick to the same style. I got ‘layers’ a few months ago and they made it so I couldn’t put my hair (still can’t) behind my ears at certains point. So annoying!
