Rise n whirl

Happy Monday!

Thank you all so much for the congratulations on Saturday’s half!! You all rock. And for those aspiring to run one yourself, do it!! You can!

Speaking of the run, my legs are still sore! Fortunately my hip is feeling great…but my quads and shin muscles are feeling it. They must have forgotten what it felt like to move.

But you know what they say about sore muscles: the best way to help them feel better is to use them more.

I may be making that up…but let’s just pretend it’s true.  Because they were put to good use during this morning’s 5:30 RPM class.

Mike and I got up super early to get to the gym before school.  I love working out that early. It’s an entirely different atmosphere at the gym before the sun rises; thee people are more upbeat (surprisingly) and we’re all there to start our day off on the right foot.

Although, it is hard getting out from under the covers to make it happen.  So we’ll see if we can keep it up.

Breakfast

Not sure if spin helped my muscles, but it make me more excited to eat.Eggy oatmealExcuse the messy bowl. That’s what happens when you’re hungry and too lazy to cook oatmeal with two bowls.

Not that I ever use two bowls anyway.Eggy oatmealEggy oatmeal made with:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 2 T soy flour
  • 1 egg white
  • pumpkin & cinnamon
  • DCD & PB drizzle

It was a beautiful day on campus so I took my blogging between classes outside to soak up some sun.OutsideIt’s still not quite fall here but it’s getting better. Slowly but surely. SOMEDAY we might get below 60*.

Lunch

Ever since my parents told me about the amazing results going wheat-free has done for them, I’ve been limiting the amount in my diet.  It was tricky finding grains that weren’t wheat at first…but there just so happened to be a bag of unopened brown rice hiding in my cabinet.

I’ve been hooked ever since.Brown rice bowlYou may notice another food that has come back into my life: shrimp. If you remember, I became vegetarian this past summer. Well, the decision was recently made to go back to pescatarianism.  Nothing against being vegetarian, but pescatarian seems to fit me much better.

And if this looks good to you or you’re a lover of rice dishes, too…be sure to check back tomorrow! There’s a delicious gluten-free (healthy!) fried rice recipe in store. Yum!

**What’s better:

  • foods from plates or bowls?
  • working out super early or super late?

I actually found out this weekend that I’m probably allergic to gluten (and soy, white sugar and milk…). I didn’t eat any of those products all day yesterday and felt better than I had in months. I’m hoping it keeps working!

It’s amazing how we can go for years without realizing we might actually have a sensitivity…apparently most of us have some sort of food allergy and don’t even know it! Glad you found out about the gluten, though. I hope going without it keeps working for you, too!

I much prefer bowls for some reason :) and my porridge bowls are always so messy once I cook it but I don;t want to waste more washing up so the blog photo just looks messy!

Love bowls! So much easier to scoop up every last bit of food that way ;-) I prefer earlier workouts but since I have to be at work at 9, I don’t want to work out at 6am, so I do workouts after work

Plate or bowl…depends on the dish (hahaha…no pun!), but generally a bowl please.

I feel SO good after a morning workout, but I just can’t seem to make it happen on a regular basis. I generally get it in on my lunch hour or right after work…occasionally both!

I like bowls. I don’t know why. They’re just nice. And I’m an evening workout person on weekdays but morning on weekends. It all depends on my schedule, really, but I do prefer the evening.

I love eating from a bowl. There is less chance of thing sliding to the floor that way. I’m such a messy eater sometimes. :)
