Raise your hand if you were up super early this morning watching the Royal Wedding!!!
I wasn’t- I was sound asleep. But I am watching it as we speak…and no doubt they’ll replay it a million more times!
Honestly, it’s hard for me to really become interested in a wedding that’s so far away and between two people I don’t know too much about. I understand that royal weddings are bound to be less personal than normal ones…but I was a bit disappointed in just how stoic they were. And what was up with that kiss??
But that’s just my opinion. Regardless, it’s a wedding and a time for celebration. The ceremony was gorgeous, her dress was stunning..and most importantly, they seem to actually love each other. ((Unlike many royal weddings in the past.))
So congratulations, Prince William and Princess Catherine!!
Anyway, HAPPY FRIDAY! I keep having to remind myself it’s actually Friday, not Sunday, as I’ve had the past two day off school. It makes for a pleasant surprise each time!
Workout
Today was my favorite- LEGS! Cardio included 15 minutes on the bike, 10 minutes of a hilly jog, and 20 minutes whirling away on the elliptical. Cardio was done in sections between the weights to mix it up a bit. For the leg work, I managed:
- barbell hack squats + wide stance squats (45 lbs- 50 reps)
- barbell step-ups (45 lbs- 30 reps, 55 lbs- 15reps)
- hip adductions (200 lbs- 45 reps)
- leg kickbacks (30 lbs one leg, 65 for two- 45 reps total)
- calf raises (90 lbs- 15 reps, 100 lbs- 20 reps)
My favorite part was the barbell step-ups. They’ve always been one my my favorites but I haven’t been able to do them since the hip injury!
Breakfast
I really look forward to these bowls. They’re taste exactly like overnight oats but only take 5 minutes to whip up. Unovernight oats maybe?
In the mix:
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1/8 cup wheat bran
- 1/3 cup Carrot Cake Carbmaster yogurt
- 1/5 cup cottage cheese
- 2-3 T milk
- cinnamon
- 1/2 banana, diced and whipped in
- marshmallows
- Easter cookie crumbles
- chocolate drizzle
I’ll take cookies and marshmallows for breakfast any day, but these are a special treat because it happens to be my birthday weekend! It’s not until Sunday…I’m just starting the celebration a few days early.
The real party’s starting tonight with my friend Laura as we’ll be jamming out here:
The Crawfish Boil!! My friend, Laura, and I went to last year’s Boil to see Train, the GooGood Dolls, and Akon. We were probably the only non-tattooed or pierced people but had so much fun.
And this year we’re doing it again! Only this time we’ll be rocking out with Weezer, Sumblime, and Cee Lo Green! And eating massive amounts of crawfish, of course.
Gonna be awesome!

man, those are some good concerts!
i didn’t get up early to watch the wedding, but I did watch some of the footage later! i loved her dress.
Wooo birthday weekend!! Have a great time :)
Your leg workout is baller girl. Way to go after it!! I think legs are my least fav since I have bad knees. I do 2 lunges and my knee starts locking and popping. No fun!
I totally got up early… not sure it was worth it, but Kate looked stunning!
Happy Birthday! Weezer = so jealous!
I saw Ke$ha in concert and loved EVERY second of it. And I’d totally go 832 more times if I could.
have a faaaab birthday!
ohhhh stepups with weights are awesome and killer! :D great workout.
Loved watching the wedding :-) We now have a beautiful Princess :-) That breakfast is pretty spectacular!
I slept in but was able to catch the balcony kiss! It was kinda grandmaish but still cute lol
Gah step ups with weights are a killer. I use to do them with 25 lb dumbbells in each hand, so much pain :(
I didn’t watch the royal wedding although I was up. I don’t know, I would hate my whole life being on screen.
I’d probably choose to see Nickel Creek or Deb Talen/The Weepies in concert. Some of my faves with harmonies!
I woke up for it! I kind of got caught up in the tradition and royalty of it all – kind of like watching Easter services at the Vatican, you know? There’s something so … historic about it all!
You always talk about this carbmaster yogurt.. where do you get it? They seem to have some fab flavors!
It’s Kroger’s brand of yogurt. I went years looking over it thinking it’d be laden with sugar or low in protein..but it has nearly the exact same nutritionals as Greek (only not as tangy and with really cool flavors. :P) I’m not sure if other stores have it or not, but check out the generic yogurts- you never know!
Hehe, me and my mom were trying to find a channel this morning that wasn’t about the wedding. We didn’t care whatsoever. We think it’s great and all, but we really don’t know the people and we just wanted some local news lol.
I understand why it’s a big deal for Britons…but why is America getting all ga-ga over this? I didn’t watch it, nor am I really going to look for videos online. Some of the wedding pictures were hilarious though! Hee hee.
I was not up early to watch the wedding. I agree with you…I cannot relate to them so I wasn’t interested. I’ve been watching clips here and there…her dress was beautiful!!
Your workout makes me want to get some exercise! Being on vacation I haven’t been as active as I’d like.
I caught the wedding on my DVR this morning :) I didn’t think I would care so much, but I loved watching it!
i watched bits of the wedding recap last night. from i gathered from one report, the british help finance a portion of the wedding. wtf?!?!?
happy early birthday lady! it sounds like you a fun weekend ahead of you. do it up!
I didn’t even know the wedding was happening until I saw blog posts about it. Oops? I can understand the fascination with royal weddings, but for me it’s not worth getting up at 3.
Happy almost birthday!
Lucky you- it’s been all the news has talked about for the past 2 weeks!!
yummy breakfast! I watched parts of it when I woke up in the morning…they did replay it often..all day :) ahha
Happy birthday for tomorrow! Hope you have a brilliant day :-)
I watched the ceremony and parade and did think they’d done it all really well – but some people had been camping out on The Mall since Tuesday! And that’s just wrong…
Thank you, Eleanor! :D I can’t believe some people had camped out four days in advanced like that! Well, actually..we have some football fans that park their campers on campus the Wednesday before a big Saturday game…crazy either way. ;)
I did not watch the royal wedding. It’s not something I’ve ever been too interested in. My daughter was all over the recaps after school, though so I did catch part of it…
