Good afternoon!! Hope you’re all having a wonderful day. It’s been great over here so far- one of those days full of little “revelations” if you will.
Actually, it started last night when I realized apparently I love cleaning..at least, every once and a while. After the organizing spree, I tried out my new vacuum and loved it! I never thought I’d say that about anything having to do with cleaning..but after dealing with a vacuum so weak it can even suck up a shred of paper for the past three years, having a good one is a real treat.
But enough on the super-fun cleaning talk..there are many more revelations to go!
Like, for instance:
Apparently I was in the mood for red this morning.
while my oats were in the mood to be green.
…I love having a table to photograph on, but the fact it’s not near natural light kind of skews the colors.. ![]()
Don’t worry, they weren’t actually green, just delicious and made up of:
- 1/3 cup oats, cinnamon, water, salt
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese
- ~1/5 cup Raspberry YummyBerry (<–the name gets me every time
) Carbmaster yogurt - frozen strawberries & kiwi
By the way, apparently kiwi does not freeze well. Instead, it turns into a big block of frozen kiwi mush. Still delicious, but kind of annoying.
As soon as breakfast was eaten, I was out the door and heading to class. Where I learned a few more things…
Like apparently being “done” with math courses by Freshman year is no longer something to be proud of. In fact, it’s going to bite me in the butt. Mmmhmm, physics and statistics are more math-based than originally expected.
Oh, and apparently I didn’t get into anatomy this semester. So I’m only taking 8 hours. Ugh.
Ohhh well, moving on. ![]()
Lunch
Yep, tuna and fish again. Apparently I’m still not sick of the combo.
or maybe it’s that I’m really boring and eat the same thing a lot.
Nah..it’s probably more along the lines of I’m super cheap. Tuna, eggs, and carrots are cheap.
As is cereal.
There we go, that’s it.
Apparently I’m cheap. And that’s perfectly okay.
Before this cheap-o lunch, I went out for a nice jog. I had originally planned on doing 5-6 miles but ended up doing 8!
Have you ever had one of those runs that feels so great, you just keep going? You tell yourself “I’ll turn around at this light..” but end up zooming right past that point and before you know it, you’re an extra mile away and decide it’s probably a good idea to finally turn around..
Well, it was like that. The whole run was fantastic but I really started feeling good around mile 6 and was flying the last two miles! ![]()
It felt like I could have gone on forever, seriously!

great job on your run, i never feel like that when i’m running!
I think I say for sure that I’ve never, ever run longer than planned. Ever.
My favorite cheap foods…oatmeal, bananas, beans, brown rice.
Cereal might be cheap…but it certainly is delicious. :)
Haha! I very rarely have times when I just want to keep running and running.
And hey, cheap meals are great! :)
I LOVE vacuuming! haha – not even kidding. I always volunteer to do it at work. It’s one of those things I always feel so accomplished after doing – because you can see the difference right away. And I like clean floors. Maybe I’m weird :P
Awesome job on the run – I wish I could do 8 like it’s nothing!
I have definitely felt like that while cycling, but not running! ;)
I love doing dishes. So random, but I find it therapeutic! Plus there’s nothing like a clean kitch :) I am only up to 2 miles on a good running day. I need to work up to more!
2 miles is a huge accomplishment! I remember the first time even running a mile stright without stopping..just a few months ago in fact. So the miles will add on before you know it. :)
I learned when the post office opens lol :P
Ha, yeah, I love it when that happens to me on a run- accept if I’m pressed for time and can’t then I hate it, ’cause I feel like I’m “Wasting” a good feeling. Ha.. But yeah, I get that usually half way through a run, for me I usually know the route I’m gonna do and if I feel good I’ll add another part on..or sometimes if I can’t decide I’ll just let my body pick and I end up going which ever way my legs take me lol. Sometimes I’ll even be like “How’d I get here?!” Ha, I think the most I ever added onto a run was about 5 miles because I felt so good. I think I would have kept going, but I ran through all my normal places and wasn’t soo confident as to go somewhere unknown (that’d be reserved for a day I wake up feeling awesome!) yep, love the feeling ^_^
Exactly!! Glad you know the feeling, too! I’ve never added a whole 5 miles, though..so major kudos for that. :P Letting your legs take the lead sounds like a great way to do some exploring as well to make it even more fun.
Ha I tried to freeze a kiwi once. Yeah, that didn’t work out too well. ;)
<3 <3
Im totally cheap!! I buy all my spinach at the 99cent store. I figure if I can go through a whole bag in 2 smoothies I am not going to pay 3 bucks a bag! 99cents is much more up my alley though ;)
They have spinach at the 99c store?! The $3 bags were the reason I stopped making green smoothies! Ahhh I have to check this out!!
My favorite cheap foods are eggs! It pains me to buy greek yogurt, soy milk, and organic produce haha!
Mary D. YOU INSPIRE ME! ^_^
Aww thank you, Lauren! :)
i LOVE those runs!! :D
Yay 8 miles great job on the run! Gotta love it when the running fairy is with you :)
Besides the obvious: Oats, I’d have to say beans and rice (spicy black beans) are an unsung dinner table hero at this house.
As for running, yes! Today was one of those days on the treadmill where my legs didn’t want to stop and quite honestly, I didn’t want to force them. These days are the ones that make up for runs that feel like you’re waging a war.
Hi Mary,
Please come over and clean my room.
kthnxbye.
No seriously, I go through massive cleaning spurts where I clean EVERYTHING deep into corners but inevitably will leave like one laundry basket full of “stuff” for me to “sort later.” So I never really win.
hahaha sure!! Maybe if we split the work the entire place will get done. You cover the crevice cleaning and I’ll take care of laundry and what not. You know, if another cleaning spurt ever hits us. :P
I love clean laundry so much. In my freshman year of college I worked part time at Abercrombie and on my first day my boss complimented my “tight folds.” And a linen closet full of clean sheets and towels? PLease, I am swooning.
However, just like cleaning, I have the same problem with laundry — I am just not a finisher. For example, I did laundry the other day. I took it out of the dry and folded everything and yet right now, I look over and see 2 pairs of socks, one t-shirt, and one pair of pajama pants, folded in the bottom of the basket….
WHY can’t I just put that away and be done with it? I don’t know. (though I will now after thinking and writing about it so much here….)
Well, you’re WAY better than me. I’m done with the laundry after throwing it from the dryer to the floor…keep up with this lol, you’re starting to motivate me to *actually* fold some of it. :P
Okay, crazy cleaning lady…. ;-D
I loath vacuuming, but alas, it’s one of my chores in our house!
Hi Mary! I just discovered your blog. I’m with you on the cheap thing…I feel a little boring because I tend to buy the same foods every time I go to the grocery store because they’re lower priced. I’m working on switching it up a little. What are you majoring in btw? I am a dietetics major. I thought you might be the same or close to it, I took anatomy last Fall. :) Can’t wait to read more from you! You are going in my Google Reader. :D
Hey Mandy! Glad you found me :) I’m a nutrition science major so it’s practically the exact same as dietetics. It’s great to find someone in the same field!
i LOVE runs like the one you described..happens every so often..and that’s a beautiful thing :)
Awesome job with the 8 miles. I love getting out there and wanting to do more than planned (so much better than wanting to go home early!)
green oats!!!! i LOVE. i have a few kiwis in the fridge and i love your use of them :) i might just make myself a shake with them babies today!
Really, your kiwi didn’t freeze well? I froze kiwi once, and it came out great! I cut it into little discs, and froze them in a tupperware, making sure they weren’t on top of eachother so they wouldn’t stick.
My favorite cheap food, OATMEAL and frozen fruit!
Good idea..I kind of got lazy and just threw them in a plastic bag. I’ll try the tupperware next time. :P
I’ve TOTALLY been on an organizing spree as of late. It feels kind of good :)
